I just happened to say hello to a friend who just returned from office and it suddenly struck me to as my friend ” how long are we going to be like this??,

friend- like what??,

Me- Like this, rudderless, aimlessly going to office in the morn and coming home dead and tired in the evening and thats meant to be life….

the pal was too tired to answer and i suggested a cool shower , good dinner and sleep….and I was left alone with my thoughts of doomsday which seems like every single day, are we doomed to be buried in our places of work ( dungeons ) , are we as a human race born to work alone?? work /make money/work make more money…..maybe stuck in our circumstances we are the slaves to the “Yoke of our Desires”.

I remember the opening sequence of a particular Tamil movie i watched ” Evno Oruvan” it was titled starring Madhavan and I think it was directorial debut or something of that sort, the movie opens with a shot in fast forward of the man waking up brushing his teeth as his family also wakes up, the struggle for the municipality water, his wife cooking food for his office lunch box and for the kids lunch boxes and he rushing through his shower and pooja and then waiting for the local train and goign to office , work, lunch break, his cup of tea near that particular tea stall, seeing the same beggar..back home….so on and so forth and all this is shown in fast forward repeating again and again as in a loop ……and it sacred me to think thats what my life is going to be- one continous loop of the same things everyday- and that is the chilling prospect….i am dreading to find and hoping I wont and that it is in me to avoid it and change it.

As I sit at office on a Sunday morning instead of being in bed, I sometimes get the thought ( these days more often) Lord!! what have I gotten myself into, a profession that demands 24 hours loyalty from you, a profession that is the age old/traditional school of professions where a person does not start off with a bang ( a decent salary ), a profession where years of toil will get you what is called “experience” ( always reminds me of Calvin’s dad telling him about building character ), the gestation period is long…so long i.e when you have the youth and time you toil and when you have the money and fame you continue toil anyway because you can’t do without your daily dose of toil…lol. But, the better part of it is that you don’t have to be perfect in it for you are always ” practising” and the max you could get to be is that you are the “best practitioner” yeah thats it!!. I don’t know how this is viewed , positive or negative depends on how you want to percieve it, in this line of work You are responsible for yourself, if you don’t work you stay hungry ( damn!! wish Bill Gates or some billionaire lost a few cents..), We got all the freedom to do whatever wish to do, take leaves whenever we want to, but like Spidey’s Uncle Ben’s word ring in my ears with a twist though ” With great Freedom comes Great responsibility” , so yeah !! eseentially it means nothing, that Great Freedom. 

Yes so much for my grubmbling/cribbing would you call it that?? do I sound like that, maybe , maybe not. All said and done there are days when I am feeling great and think what I am doing rocks absolutely, there are days when I feel its a Dog’s Life ( not some celebrity pet though ). Yeah!! get on with the visicisitudes of life buddy!! there  can’t be anything half as boring as a perfectly smooth life, in old times when ships said with the wind there was a part in the ocean where the seas became calm,still, and silent and the sun was relentless, those smooth and calm areas were called the Doldrums, which were the most miserably parts of the voyage.

So I guess I will continue my life which is the time spent between a crib session and a party time…hahaha

WOrk Work…..Sometimes it makes me wonder and I am beginging to believe in it too…that we are actually ” Living to work and not vice versa”, because the amount of time we spend at work and the amount of time we spend doing things that make us glow..( no , i am not talking about taking a bath)..from within and bring a smile on our face is so disproportionate.

Today has been a really hectic day didnt sit for more than five hours, just walking and running between various court rooms, well just running/walking wouldn’t be as tiring as worrying and doing the same thing. My entire body is sore and then I come back to office for few more hours, then get back home and do laundry the manual style because the maid is on leave and man…..its a dog’s life…….

Feels better after this little crib session….
