the curious incident of the dog in the night time….
The title itself is enough to draw anyone near this book and from my personal experience i can assure it wouldnt disappoint. The book is written by one mr.mark haddon a brit author. Its a beautiful book written form the perspective of an autistic kid.it gives a wonderful insight into how the thinking or emotions of a autistic kid can be.These kids are really special and they defnitely are differently abled, amazing kids though their brain functions extremely well only in certain areas or subjects and in these areas and subjects these kids excel.
The books takes through the life of one such kid,who is not so emotional or touchy about humans and very fond of and attached to dogs. Most of the time he comes across and cold and lacking in emotions but then there are scenes like when he knows the truth about his mother which do strike a chord in the reader.Awell written and a refreshing new perspective or rather the point of view,we are generally used to the run of the mill point of views, but, this book is different. Its atale of growing and determination.
I primarily picked up the book apart from the title because the reviews and comments said it can be compared “the catcher in the rye” a book i loved immensely….and yes the comparision wasnt in vain.
Its a small book and defnitely doesnt take up too much time and good buy too.a good read.

love in the time of cholera……..
just finished reading the book “love in the time of cholera ” by Mr.GABRIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ, during my recent holiday trip going down the memory lane. T he book was a fantastic read for me because i am big fan of all kinds of human drama rather than sci-fi. It is a drama ,a saga of love spanning over fifty- sixty years and quite engrossing too. It shows love in all in its manifold forms, the physical, mental, the spiritual, the fidel, the infidel, love for god ,for country, for money, for wife, for lover, love for loves sake..alll forms and kinds and varieties.Set in the carribean isles during the colonial periods the author gives a vivid description of the times and customs and circumstances of life then.I could imagine ,rather picturise all the places described and the smells of the markets the stench of the ports ,the fragrance of the flowers, the haughty nature of fermina daza…the loser like character of florentino ariza( well in todays times we would only see him like a total loser .rather than true lover).
florentino ariza’s charcter is resembles devdas to a certain extent in that they both are sorry losers wallowing in their own misery and self pity, but, maybe florentino ariza is a shade better than devdas in the sense that he isnt a 100% loser/sucker like devdas, you will know why when you read the book.lol.
There is a need for lots of leisure time ,like when travelling in a train to read this masterly tale of love, life and old age.The book is not a page turner like a da vinci code but then it is slow and beautiful and smooth like the classical novel that it is ,it is more like european cinema rather than the slam bang…fast and slick hollywood movie.
Its a good read ,one must defnitely read it when there is liesure .enjoy. next i am planning to buy ” 100 YEARS OF SOLITUDE ” by mr.garcia.

Well here is an update of the reading I have been doing lately, now this isn’t some Literary review or anything lofty of that sort, just plain letting the world know that I do have some literary pretensions and that I do spend my time in a fruitful manner gaining knowledge ( do I need to ??, we will save that for another day. what say?).
Currently reading ” A walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson ( no girls it isn’t that famous mush movie where they walk in the clouds or a walk they remember ), a lovely travelogue, the dude has a sense of humour all his own, and it almost inspired me to walk atleast 10km this morning , but I guess it will take far greater powers to move me more. Its about Bill’s trek/hike through the Appalachian Trail ( 2,100 miles ) one of the longest man made forest trails meant for eccentric hikers/trekkers.
A Bridge Across Forever- Richard Bach is the second book which I am reading at work yes you heard it right ( when the judge is busy coaxing the big jesus out of some poor schmuck yours truly while waiting for his turn is lost in the ideas of soulmates and such wooly ideas which only occur to one when he/she is barnstorming, that is flying an airplane upside down and doing some pretty heady stuff with airplanes over some barns and fields with the cows admiring you. Well I did read this book many years ago when I was in the 9th grade and now that I am re-reading it, I realise I didnt quite understand what I read then, but did think I looked pretentious cool, a 9th grade kid is reading a title called “A Bridge…..” . Its a good book with some beautiful ideas and well written, and Mr.Bach is a “Quote Collectors” delight, he gives so many quotable quotes. I slowed down a little bit in my reading of this novel because I did some googling and found that Mr.Bach and his Soulmate are no longer so. Well it seemed a tad disappointing for I assumed “..and they wlived happily ever after” and like all assumptions it turned out to be wrong, and somehow I am glad I was wrong. Ok no more, I sound pretty knowledge about Bach by now.
I will complete them both in due time. My personla defenition of Soulmate…It is that Third Party He/She in a marriage, that someone who makes you think ‘the grass is greener on the otherside of the pasture’.

I am reading a v
ery passionate tale a saga of a family and the impossibile love of the heroine………But what I loved most was the opening passag talking about the legend of the “Thorn Birds”….it goes thus…
” There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then singing among the savage branches, it impales itself on the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to out carol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, exsistence the price. But the whole world stills to listen , and God in his heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great pain………Or so says the legend…”
And also i got know where my dearest friend Meghnien got her lovely and exotic name from…..its from the thorn birds whose lead character is the beautiful and passionate Meghan……
