This here ( sounding like southerner am I ) is an excerpt from an Editorial in The Hindu -…its titled  WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION ?” What is your motivation ? It is the cliched question that a washed up schlock actor, appearing in a dire U.S. detective show as a, erm , washed up schlock actor, might ask the soon to be bunked off character playing the theatre direc Hackneyed scriptwriting aside, it is also a question few of us bother to ask when stuck in front of our computer screens, or on our commutes to and from being stuck at our computer screens. But even if its not a question to reflect on loud, in public places, we should consider what motivates us at work. What really made you get up this morning and trundle into into the office with the sweating masses to knuckle down until five or six in the evening ( probably for the foreseeable future ) ? Nice question to ask ourselves….every day…..

….new kid at the starting blocks…..

Honestly after the retirement of Michael Schumacher or Schumi as we fans call him retired from F1 racing I was left wondering “now where would transfer my loyalties, to whom should I look forward to???”. I thought the natural progession would be to back any new who joins Ferrari- Schumi’s team, and I had a reason to be excited too for Kimi Raikonen joined Ferrari in the place of Schumi , and I have always found Massa boring anyway. The Season started with a bang with Kimi winning in Melbourne, and I felt I was justified in keeping my loyalties with the prancing horse. In that particular race a rookie in his debut race came third and I thought it probably was a flash in the pan and more than the talent of the driver it must be the wonderful car Maclaren has come up with this season. That rookie turned out be a brit with lots of firsts to start with the first black driver in the history of F1, and hence he is a trailblazer and whatever he does shall be a first in one way or another. This guy, his name is Lewis Hamilton, over the last seven races has shown what a magnificient racer/driver he is , he has proven all cynics and critics wrong, made every other driver stand up and notice him, made the current reigning two time champ Alonso crib in public like a baby and above all he leads the championship race and he has finished his every single race till now on the podium always in the top three. Hope the sports columnists are right in their predictions that this guy who has been a winner at every stage of his motor racing career is the ” Tiger Woods ” of F1 racing. Keep reaching the chequered flag Lewis you have yourself a new fan , mate……

how to….

Not that any one needs to learn from me, but, this just my way of handling a problem/a mistake…etc and such niggles that may itch and irritate or upset us. First and foremost when something has happened, I react like any normal human ( yes!! you need not doubt, I am one) would do act on the spur of the moment..cry/laugh/crib/shout/sometimes angry but then after a while I think and analyse for myself the situation from all angles and then look for justification in my own contribution to the whole scenario and then hit upon the realisation that ” probably I deserved it, serves me right ” or ” hey I didnt deserve it “…if its the former I would have then and there learnt a valuable lesson and try as long as I am in my right senses not repeat the same. If its the latter , then probably I would stop cribbing about something that has already happened and since time and that moment cannot come back, I would rather live with and try to dig out something positive and possible out of it ad invariably I have noticed that something beautiful/good/positive can be ‘ salvaged’ from any such thing…like from a SHIPWRECK, what could possibily be positive from the loss of many lives, yes, true its a great tragedy due to an act of God or that of man, but maybe the survivors would now treasure and value the rest of their lives better, maybe they would try to lead a better life and tell their loved ones every single day how much they love them. These could be the instant positives , they will be visible only if you go looking for them ( one thing about being positive, its a constant quest, every breathe we take we should make a conscious effort). The positives which some others will recognise could instantly be found or after centuries, like the treasure trove that ship was probably carriage, hey imagine sometimes after a 100/1000 years even the junk carried by the wrecked ship becomes a treasure, just like a piece of wood becomes a piece of coal and a piece of coal becomes a piece of rock called diamond. So my philosophy is simple keep looking for the positive in everything, anything and probably you would find it right now/today/tomorrow/after a life time or probably the next generations…….but , Hey keep looking…..nothing can be as big a disaster as you think it to be or make it out to be………..
